YMCA believes in fairness and opportunity. There are essential building blocks for a full and rewarding life: a safe home; acceptance; guidance; friendship; physical and mental health; academic support; employment skills; and access to real opportunities. Many young people have never known these things; other people have lost one or more as they grew up, but we all need them. All of us. At YMCA, we provide these critical foundations for a fresh, strong start for young people and a better quality of life in the community.

YMCA Cheshire prevents homelessness by responding to local need. We creatively invest in the lives of young people and the community through all our projects, including housing, learning, family support, working with children, and our three social enterprise schemes.

We began in Crewe in 1909, when a group of men began regular meetings to tackle needs in the town. In the 1980’s, we renovated the old Rail Workers Hostel to enable us to provide accommodation for young people experiencing homelessness. Since then, our housing services have expanded to around 100 units in Crewe and wider Cheshire, with a range of preventative work in the community, helping people to develop the skills they need to live a thriving life.

There are more than 100 YMCAs in England & Wales, and YMCA Cheshire is one of those. We are part of the YMCA Federation, all of whom are passionate about creating strong and meaningful communities for people. You can learn more about YMCA England & Wales here.
