We have created our ‘Refugee Realities’ schools resource pack for use with young people in a variety of education settings.
Aimed at 11-16 year olds living in Cheshire East, the pack has been designed to help raise awareness and an understanding of the real stories of the Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children living in their local community.
Our motivation to create the pack came from a need to find a way to share the real experiences of our residents with young people. We also wanted to combat some of the stereotypes and misinformation we were regularly hearing. Our schools resource contains a variety of information, activities and case studies to inform the learning of young people.
The Refugee Realities resource pack is currently being used in more than a third of secondary schools in Cheshire East. It has also won two awards, one regional and one national, for Social Impact.
The content is accessible for both formal and non-formal settings. It contains a range of formal lesson plans, and suggestions for informal group activities.
You can read more about the motivation for creating the pack here.
