On Sunday 4th October, individuals and teams ran, walked and cycled 26.2 miles to raise money to support our work with young people at risk of homelessness.
Considering the tough times we’re living in, we set a modest target of £500 for the event, but even with sponsorship still coming in, we’re looking to have raised around £1500, which is phenomenal.
Special thanks must go to:
Keele University HR team and their families for pulling together multiple teams of participants
Sylvia Smallwood, who at 78 years old was our oldest participant and ran 16 miles, walking the remaining 10.2
YMCA Crewe Housing Coach Mike Roberts, who not only ran 26.2 miles in 3 and a half hours, but encouraged 10 of our residents to take part and run or walk laps with him.
We also want to say thank you to local printers The Printing House for supplying our participants with souvenir T Shirts, and local artist Alison Levy for designing our Virtual Marathon logo.
Who knows what the next few months have in store for us, but we’re still ploughing ahead with putting together a series of fundraising events for 2021. If you would like to get involved, please email lisa.cormack@ymcacrewe.org.uk
For now though, here are just a few photos from what really was a wonderful day, and an opportunity to both raise awareness of our work, and bring our community together.
Thank you everyone!!
