Are you interested in giving back to your local community, learning new skills and making a real difference?

We are looking for trustees to join YMCA Crewe – people who would like to make a difference in the community we serve,  bring fresh perspectives to board meetings and have a genuine interest in the work we do.

YMCA Crewe is at the forefront of providing services that create new futures for children, young people and adults in South Cheshire. The Trustees support our CEO and Senior Leadership Team to effectively utilise resources of around £2 million every year. Through our highly motivated and skilled staff (plus many volunteers), we are a key provider of services in the region and part of the worldwide Christian YMCA movement.

Our services provide a pathway of experiences and opportunities enabling better lives and better futures for young people and communities.

We provide accommodation at our Gresty Road site with an asset-based approach that has a comprehensive offer around health, employability and life skills. Every year we work with over 120 people who are experiencing homelessness and require a platform of opportunities to belong, contribute and thrive.

We also work with a number of young adults living in flats in Crewe; some of these young people are care leavers and others are unaccompanied children seeking asylum.

Through our network of after school clubs, parenting groups and youth outreach, family engagement in our communities is growing.

We have new social enterprises, such as a Café and Maintenance Service that offer work placements to people who use our services.

As a Trustee you will use your skills and experience to guide us through exciting times, shaping our governance, contributing to our future strategy and growth, acting as an ambassador for all aspects of our work.

There is no need to have trustee experience to apply, but a keen desire to support our work is essential. We are particularly interested in hearing from you if you have professional qualifications and experience in any of the following areas:, mental health, , finance, fundraising or , legal services .

We hold board meetings six evenings a year. Trustees are occasionally asked to support the Association at other times by agreement. The role is voluntary.

If you would like to find out more about the Association and the role of Trustees, please contact Mark Hills, Chief Executive Officer mark.hills@ymcacrewe.org.uk or Joanne Turley, Chair joanne.turley@ymcacrewe.org.uk

Closing date for applications is 31st August 2021.

YMCA Crewe is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We are also committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and volunteers and we know that our Governance will operate at its best if we maintain a diverse membership within our Board.

Any appointment will be subject to receipt of satisfactory references and Disclosure and Barring check.
